Lesson 2: Paying Attention To Details.

In this time where everything is on the fast lane; fast food, microwave cooking and, if you are a student like me,you would probably also rush for classes, its very easy to pay little or no attention to details.
Details are the core or connecting dots in attaining true or in-dept understanding. They are those tiny information that are easily waved off or shoved off.

Paying attention to details helps us to do things thoroughly and thus get the very best of it. Most people do not like paying attention to details and some unknowingly don't because they claim there's no time or are not ready to 'slow down'. Paying attention requires time and patience.

The thing is, the things you take quality time to do usually pays off on the long run.Whatever you get the 'true feel' of sticks with you longer. It comes in 2 forms:

  • REFLECTION - ruminating on your past experiences and making sense out of them for your growth or future life before taking up something new.
  • PARTICIPATION - been consciously present where you are and maximizing the moment. Giving your best contribution or getting the best (information) of every moment. It is intentionally focusing on where you are and what you are doing per time.

With this, you do not waste any moment of your life because you will end up making sense of it all. That is full consciousness per time.

Even the Bible says; if you sow sparingly, you will reap sparingly and if you sow bountifully, you will reap bountifully.

What are the areas you may need to pay attention to?

1) Yourself- Next to paying attention to knowing God is knowing yourself. There are SO MANY things about you that you take for granted but are the key to your distinction in life. Take note of the little details about you.Own those details, especially the ones that make you different, because you were really made to stand out. Its the key to any form of influence.

2)  Our relationships- Always be conscious of what is going on in every of your relationships. Be careful that your iPad, tabs, smart phones etc. don't take your attention while speaking to people. Especially in your most important relationships, make sure you are listening and observing properly so you can be sure to connect the dots. Also take time out to allow your past experience with the person or your other relationships channel you to the best way or 'how' to relate properly to the person. Make sure you take out time for them. Relationship with God, family and friends are key!

3) Purpose or your assignment- Its so easy to get distracted or carried away by every other thing but what you are called to or responsible to doing (lazy in the place of purpose). You may find yourself doing everything but what you have really purposed to do per time.

4)Others- Pay attention to the detail of time, the particular words you say and use, the promises you give, to whom you speak, what exactly you eat, how you study/read, how you plan etc.
It is key to excellence/distinction.

So you read it all and you are like 'where do I even start from?'
Hehe..Here's your answer:
  • Just decide right now to begin paying attention to details/concentrate.
  • Anytime you loose concentration, try to regain it. You get steady with time. Remember this: "whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" - 2Corinthians 9:6  (from the Bible).

p.s- This particular lesson,I had to learn and relearn and relearn and I am still learning!!!

Cheers to a great week ahead!!

Lesson One: Knowing 'your' God

There are 7.4 billion people on earth. Findings say adults make 35,000 decisions daily while babies make 3000 decisions(you didn't know that, did you?). About 3.2 billion fall within the age range of 15-44years of age.

Very few things bring life and excitement or enthusiasm like a new idea you think is so great. It could almost take all your attention and mind. You can almost have an 'action rush' , as you would go all the way out just to get your idea to come into reality. Note that an action rush is different from a 'steady build'. Like any other great thing in life, challenges, especially unprecedented will arise (many of them disrupting your plan!)

I came to realize that nothing beats a person who not just has an idea but knows God. I got to this point in 2015 where I just had to settle to really find my God and grow my faith.
What exactly does it mean to know God?
Knowing God is like enlarging your understanding of God and establishing a personal strong believe in God through a personal search of Him. Knowing God is not just about knowing His word but cultivating or building a relationship with Him. The truth is,several things begin to make sense to you- i.e the eyes of your understanding will begin to open,to even things you never unprecedented. This was especially helpful when I had my mind really clouded with so many things that did not fall in place for me. The truth is,its really hard to move on when things do not go your way, especially as a youth -its like an heart break.

Daniel.11:32b - '...but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.'

There's a kind of light every understanding of God's word brings to your life that helps you navigate life in a different way. Of the 7.4 billion people on earth, the truth is,no one is exactly the same i.e. everyone has their peculiarity. Knowing God literally brings you to a personal spot with God- such that you navigate life based on your peculiarity and His word really helps you by the HolySpirit to know how exactly to navigate life specifically for 'you'. Knowing God is getting to have a relationship with Him.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."Jere.1:5

There's something about understanding your peculiarity that gives you a particular poise and quickens your stallion spirit to live out life with every sense of courage and fulfillment. So that, regardless of the billions of people on earth, you can stand out to 'do you' in God's way. This arises only from a knowledge of yourself which is birth from a knowledge of God.
Truth: It takes time to get to that point where, regardless, you are unshaken, but keep at it.One day at a time, one step at a time.

I know its often said that we should know the word of God. The angle of knowing God I am talking about is taking Him more personally, beyond what wither your Pastor or even others say. Taking Him for every word he says about you. You be like ain't nobody got time for that? lol.
Oh yeah! Personally.

  • Getting to know God helps you to know you better.
  • Knowing God gives you courage to face your fear
  • No decision goes wrong with knowing God.
Psalm 16:11- You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

How to know God.
-Decide to
-Fix a particular time- its important to purposely fix a time for the study of the word or any other material that could bring you close to knowing God better. Else it can easily get shuffled off your to-do list.
-One day at a time- no matter how small you get in a day,it is okay for that day.Give yourself a pat on the back and look forward to the next day.
-Engage the HolySpirit by asking Him questions.
-Finally,Just do it.

I would like to know how your journey on knowing God has been :) . Let's catch-up at the comment bar.

2015

Hi hi hi!!!
Its been a while yeah?
Yes I know. But i am excited to be here. I am working on a series of 10 lessons I learnt in 2015.
In a nutshell though,
I learnt to speak from been silent
I learnt to be silent form speaking
I learnt to pay attention from neglecting
I learnt to neglect from paying attention
I learnt to smile beyond the pain
I learnt to go on my knees(pray)
I learnt to trust God
It was really a defining year for me.
Like, every of God's word made so much sense like never before.
Okay,let me stop there...
I should be releasing them from Wednesday 20th. Never stop praising God regardless of what's going on. Have a grateful heart for whatever little you have.
Remember~ All things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose.-Romans 8:28. :)

P.S: I had the opportunity to serve in my church at school, that's how I got to learn certain things. So,get a place of worship to serve God; God's going to grow you in a way you never imagined.
#Peace
